Shane Smith
Shane Smith was a member of the Merced City School District school board in California, representing Area 1. He assumed office in 2018.

2016
Three of the five seats on the Merced City School District Board of Education were up for by-district general election on November 8, 2016. Two of the seats were up for election to four-year terms, and one seat was up for election to a two-year term due to an appointment on the board.[1] Appointed incumbent Michael Crass and challengers Marian Navarro Ledesma and Shane Smith ran for the two-year term in Area 1, and Crass won. In his bid for re-election to Area 2, incumbent Gene Stamm was defeated by challenger Miguel Lopez. The race for the open Area 4 seat featured candidates Emily Langdon and Tom Parker. Langdon was elected to the seat.[2][3]

Funding
Smith reported $12,044.00 in contributions and $7,200.70 in expenditures to the Merced County Elections Office, which left his campaign with $4,843.30 on hand in the election.[4]
