Three of the five seats on the New Haven Unified School District Board of Education were up for at-large general election on November 8, 2016. In their bids for re-election, incumbents Jonas Dino and Michael Ritchie were defeated by challengers Sharan Kaur, Lance Nishihira, and Jeff Wang.[1][2]

Kaur reported $5,884.52 in contributions and $8,002.13 in expenditures to the Alameda County Registrar of Voters, which left Kaur's campaign with $2,117.61 in debt in the election.[3]
