Sharion Aycock is a federal judge on senior status with the United States District Court for the Northern District of Mississippi. She joined the court in 2007 after a nomination from President George W. Bush (R). Aycock served as chief judge of the court from 2014 to 2021. She assumed senior status on April 15, 2025.[1]

Early life and education

Born in Tupelo, Mississippi, Aycock graduated from Mississippi State University in Starkville, Mississippi with her bachelor's degree in 1977 and received her Juris Doctor degree from Mississippi College School of Law in 1980.[1]

Professional career

Aycock was a private practice attorney in the State of Mississippi from 1980 to 2003 before serving as a circuit court judge for the First Circuit Court for the District of Mississippi until 2007.[1]

Judicial career

Northern District of Mississippi

On the recommendation of U.S. Senators Roger Wicker and Thad Cochran, Aycock was nominated to the United States District Court for the Northern District of Mississippi by President George W. Bush on March 19, 2007 to a seat vacated by Glen Davidson as Davidson assumed senior status. Aycock was confirmed by the U.S. Senate on October 4, 2007 on a senate vote and received commission on October 22, 2007.[2]

Aycock took senior status on April 15, 2025.[1]
