|My name is Sharlene McEvoy and I am a lifelong resident of Derby, My grandparents first lived in Derby in 1901, making me a third generation resident. The city needs dedicated professional leadership, I have the education and expertise to lead the city. I am a retired University professor. I have a Ph.D in Political Science from UCLA where my major field was Public Administration. I hold a law degree from the University of Connecticut and I am a member of the Connecticut bar. I pledge fiscal responsibility, integrity and clear communication. I welcome your support and look forward toserving you as Mayor.

Protecting the environment faces so many issues to climate issues. 1.Devise a cost effective plan to replace the current senior center. 2. Phase in the upcoming reevaluation to lessen the impact on homeowners. 3. Allow real estate taxes to be paid in installments. 4. Ally Derby High School with a school in a neighboring community to improve the quality of education. 5. Eliminate the position of Chief of Staff, Mayor McEvoy as CEO of the city will assume full responsibility to perform the duties of the office resulting in a savings to taxpayers. 6. Go out to bid for legal services, The office of corporation counsel is the lawyer for the people of Derby, not the mayor’s personal attorney. 7. Fully comply with the Freedom of Information Act. 8. Stop any development on Telescope Mountain. 9. Will not sell or lease park property. 10. Seek grants to acquire open space. 11. Start a program to beautify Derby by planting trees which not only enhance property values but mitigate the effects of climate change. 12. Analyze each department to find cos,t cutting opportunities. 13. Explore additional opportunities for sharing of services with neighboring towns to reduce costs. 14. Host Mayor’s Night In / Mayor’s Afternoon In so that residents can voice concerns. 15. Establish an internship program at city hall so high school seniors’ and students at nearby universities can learn about how local government works.
