Campaign themes

2016

Stover's campaign website highlighted the following issues:

Sharon on Education and Youth Development

Sharon has dedicated her life to improving opportunities for kids. She will support innovative reforms that will improve the quality of education across the state and give our children access to the best academic and vocational training available.

Sharon on Economic Development

Sharon helped encourage tourism development through her work with the History is Here campaign for the Los Alamos Historical Society. This major fundraising effort raised millions of dollars for the preservation and promotion of the unique history of Los Alamos and Northern New Mexico.

Sharon on Protecting the Safety of New Mexicans

Through her work with youth, Sharon understands the importance of juvenile crime prevention programs to help our youth make better judgments and avoid engaging in dangerous behavior. Sharon has consistently advocated for local juvenile justice programs to provide intervention strategies for at-risk youth. She also worked with the NM Legislature to secure recurring funding for juvenile justice programs statewide.

Sharon and her family experienced the terrible consequences of DWI when a drunk driver killed her brother in a Sunday morning crash in 1979. She is passionate about reducing New Mexico’s DWI rates and will work to strengthen our State’s DWI laws.[2]
