Pertnoy-Schmidt was a candidate District 8 of the New Jersey General Assembly. Pertnoy-Schmidt and Raymond Storck ran unopposed in the June 7 Democratic primary, but both dropped out afterwards. They were replaced by Anita Lovely and Pam Finnerty.

Scott Rudder and Patrick Delany ran unopposed in the Republican primary. Robert Edward Forchion, Jr. also ran for the seat as an Independent.[1]Republican Patrick Delany has since resigned and withdrawn from the race. Freeholder Chris Brown (R) will replace Delany on the ballot.[2]
