Shaun Broyhill was a candidate for at-large representative on the Sioux City Community School District school board in Iowa. Broyhill was defeated in the at-large general election on September 12, 2017.

Broyhill was elected to the Sioux City Community school board as an at-large representative on September 10, 2013. On September 19, 2013, Broyhill resigned from the school board before he could be sworn-in.[1]

Broyhill was a 2016 Republican candidate for District 13 of the Iowa House of Representatives.

Broyhill grew up in Sioux City and attended schools within the district. He received a bachelor's degree in computer science from Briar Cliff University and received his master's degree in cognitive psychology/human computer interaction from Iowa State University.[2] Broyhill's professional experience includes working as a software architect and engineer at Wilson Trailer Company and as a project programmer at Great West Casualty Company.[3][4] He has also worked as a programmer consultant and programmer at Sabre Industries, Inc., an application developer at B.S.Software, and as a lead programmer / designer at Direct SS Incorporated.[5] Broyhill served in the Nebraska Army National Guard in 2004.[2]

Three of seven seats on the Sioux City Community School District school board in Iowa were up for at-large general election on September 12, 2017. One incumbent filed for re-election.[6] Incumbent Perla Alarcon-Flory and newcomers Ron Colling and Jeremy Saint defeated former candidate Shaun Broyhill and newcomer Miyuki Nelson in the race for the at-large seats.[7]

According to his campaign Facebook page, Broyhill's campaign focused on the students of the district. Broyhill said, "I am running for the School Board because I hope to continue to serve the Sioux City community, and am dedicated to education of today's youth.
