Veteran. Community Activist. Servant Leader. Shaunte McFarland is a proud U.S. veteran, a passionate community activist, and a dedicated servant leader with a lifelong commitment to empowering people and building stronger communities. Now, she’s stepping forward to serve as the next Mayor of Sharpsburg bringing integrity, action, and heart to local government.
  • Sharpsburg has the potential to thrive, but we must invest in our own growth. As mayor, I will establish the town’s first-ever Chamber of Commerce to support local businesses, attract new investments, and create lasting economic opportunities. It’s time to bring jobs, resources, and revenue home where they belong.
  • Our town can’t grow if we leave our young professionals behind. That’s why I’m committed to launching Sharpsburg’s first Young Professionals Network, a space for citizens ages 25–45 to connect, lead, and contribute to our future. We’re not just engaging youth, we’re preparing them to lead and serve.
  • Public service is a promise and it’s time we hold every elected official to it. As mayor, I will set the tone for honest, accountable leadership. I will work to ensure every official not only hears the people, but actively serves them. No more closed doors, no more broken promises. Just leadership that delivers.
Leadership isn’t about titles, it’s about trust. It’s about listening to the people, showing up when it matters most, and taking bold action to solve real problems.
My journey began in the military, where I served my country with honor and discipline. That same sense of duty led me to years of grassroots organizing, advocacy, and hands-on community work; fighting for equity, access, and opportunity for all Sharpsburg residents.
With a heart for justice and a vision for progress, I am running for mayor to bring transparent leadership, accountable government, and inclusive solutions to the town I proudly calls home.
