Shawn M. Moynihan
Shawn M. Moynihan is a First Judicial District judge for Dakota County, Minnesota. He was appointed to this position on April 24, 2007, by Governor Tim Pawlenty. He was elected to a full term in 2008.[1]
He was re-elected in 2014 for a term that expires in 2020.[2]

Education
Moynihan received his B.A. degree from the University of Minnesota in 1977 and his J.D. degree from the William Mitchell College of Law in 1982.[1]
Career
Judge Moynihan began his legal career in 1982 as an associate attorney with the firm of Hertogs, Fluegel, Sieben, Polk, Jones & Laverdiere. He worked in this position until 1992, when he became a partner of Fluegel & Moynihan. He worked with this firm until he became a judge. During portions of his career as a private practice lawyer, he also worked in the public sector as the Hastings city attorney and a Rosemount city prosecutor.[1]
