Education

Excerpt: "Children in this district have for decades been denied access to core and supplemental educational opportunities routinely provided to most other students. Shawn will work with the District to build collaborations that provide all of our children with equitable access to all instructional programs and services of SF Unified School District."

Public safety

Excerpt: "We must be safe in and outside of our homes. Shawn will continue his work with various departments of government to institutionalize partnership between community based organizations and all departments of public safety to ensure safety through a restorative justice approach designed to address the root causes of violence."

Affordable housing

Excerpt: "Families and individuals; children and seniors all deserve decent housing that is affordable. Shawn will forge and work with existing coalitions to make housing more affordable to those who have been forced to leave this great city for economic reasons."

Jobs and economic development

In this city we have often selected one over the other; Shawn will work to build partnerships that ensure both occur simultaneously for the benefit of employers and employees."

Transportation

Therefore, as an essential and vital service, the buses and trains must be free of violence and other illegal activities that impact our quality of life. Shawn will work hard to ensure that our busses and trains are safe by connecting this essential service to the broader issues of economic development and public safety."

Homelessness

Excerpt: "People are living on the streets because the social and economic fabric of our society is ragged. The issue of homelessness is a symptom our failures as a society. Therefore, Shawn will work to address the immediate issue facing those without a place to live, while also working to fix the local economic; health and welfare; and educational systems that are creating the conditions that cause our neighbors to be homeless."
