Shawn Newell
Shawn Newell was a member of the Utah State Board of Education, representing District 10. Newell assumed office in 2019. Newell left office on January 4, 2021.
Biography
At the time of his appointment, Newell was vice president of business development at Industrial Supply. He attended the University of Utah and Salt Lake Community College, earning a bachelor’s degree in sociology. He also obtained a master’s degree from the University of Phoenix.[1]
Political career
Utah State Board of Education (2019-2021)
Newell was first appointed to the Utah State Board of Education in January 2019. He filled the vacancy following Kathleen Riebe's election to the Utah State Senate. Newell was appointed to serve the remainder of Riebe's term.[1]
