Phoenix, Arizona became my home in 1957 with my dad's Federal job transfer, with the Center of Disease Control (CDC) as an epidemic investigator. My mother was a high school English teacher and community activist. Needless to say I grew-up with the understanding life was about service to others through health care and education. I attended Arizona State University earning both a Bachelors and Masters in Education. My 40-year teaching/counseling career culminated in June 2013. During those years I raised two sons, worked with the local teachers' union, served on the Cave Creek Town Council, and sat on numerous educational and environmental boards. I am running for the Arizona Corporation Commission, as a Clean Elections candidate. My objective is Building a Sustainable Future for Arizona, specifically focusing on renewable energy sources that will improve air quality, water conservation and grow eco-friendly/sustainable businesses.
  • Returning representation to the people of Arizona on the Arizona Corporation Commission
  • Building a Sustainable Future for Arizona with 100% Renewable Energy Resources
  • Encouraging small business development and growth in the area of renewable resources.
Public policy priorities:

-Increasing renewable energy resources.
-Developing a healthy environment through clean air and water.
-Supporting heath care coverage for all residents.
-Funding and growing our educational systems.

-Helping our local small businesses grow and thrive.
The Arizona Corporation Commission is the 4th independent branch of Arizona's government as written in Article 14 of the Arizona Constitution. The AZCC oversees all foreign and domestic business in the state, regulates all none municipal utilities, establishes renewable energy policy, works with federal agencies for the safety of the railroads, pipelines, and any hazardous material transported across state lines, and regulates and oversees all security markets and products, as well as, brokers in the industry.
I look up to Elenor Roosevelt, Hilary Clinton, and Mother Theresa. All are strong, intelligent, and focused leaders with an eye toward improving the lives of others through increase opportunities/education, access to health care, and compassionate outreach beyond their immediate community.
Anything that researches Social and Emotional Intelligence as well as compassionate leadership models. There

are mountain of material over a lifetime that bring me to this point today, and there will be oceans more to come.

Everyday is a discovery and learning process.
My community is better off because I participated in the process.
My first job, was as a1-12 art teacher right out of college. I taught with the same district for 40 years, during that time
I also taught multi-age classroom with a integrated thematic curriculum based on brain research learn. I finished out, the last third of my career as a school counselor and academic coach specializing in executive functions. During the 40 years I saw the growth of Special Education and English as a Second Language programs. As a result I completed certifications/endorsements allowing me to teach and counsel students levels 1-12 with special challenges.
All books on history and the people, for all walks of life, that have shared their journey, making it.
Nothing, I don't have struggles, just challenges that provide educational/emotional/spiritual growth opportunities.
All the AZCC's responsibilities are my personal priority.
Yes, all of them, most people in the State of Arizona don't know the AZCC is the one branch of government that oversees their health, safety, and welfare everyday for just about everything in their homes and businesses.
Yes, I do think it's helpful to have held an office in the local or State government, for the experience of how the "system" operates. Too, much experience can breed corruption and foster self-interest at the expense of the people.
The skills are what you need for any area of your life where success is the goal:

-Ability to read/listen, research, reflect and synthesize information.
-Understanding of history of the issue, what has come before, what worked and did not.
-Ability to communicate/educate others.
-Ability to compromise and understand that decisions are made for the whole, not the few.

-Understanding compassion figure into the quality of life as you are creating policy.
