Sheril Bechard is my name. Im retired, married t Don for 59 years, mom to 2 and grandmother to 3. Gee u in Yakima, went to school at CWU when it was a college, moved to Westside to raise family and further my education. Returned back to Ellensburg 20 years ago, live on acreage which is a piece of heaven. I enjoy travel, gardening m lunching, political action and poetry. As a retired Pediatric Registered Nurse from Children’s and Swedish hospitals and clinics, including birth defects clinic and pediatric epilepsy clinic, a mother, former foster parent and advocate for all children, I’m seeking a role for Damman School Board so I can continue working on behalf of children and parents. Raising children these days is complicated and parents need support as well as teachers and staff and I’m trained to do just that. Success comes from prioritizing what truly impacts and empowers our children. Educational funding on local, state and federal levels will be challenging I’m up to that challenge having worked on multimillion dollar budgets. I want an education system that encourages intellectual growth, critical thinking and social growth, along with ensuring parental rights and a safe and healthy learning environment for all students and, of course, fiscal responsibility. As a new School Board member, I’ll bring fresh and new perspectives. As a candidate I’m focused on guiding our district toward the best and positive directions with parents and staff.
  • I work for students, parents, teachers and staff to support them in having a safe and secure environment to learn and work.
  • Damman School District is enriched by strong community support. As I’ve been in this district for 20 years, I’ve learned and understand Damman School is center to rural family life and I want the School to maintain strong ties to the people in this district.
  • Fiscal responsibility on local, state and federal levels, even in good years, is difficult and now we are in unprecedented times where money sources may shift and I will work for securing any and all vital monies to keep Damman strong and thriving. Excellence is always foremost in learning environments.
Students’ social and mental health challenges in post covid years.
Honesty, morality, fairness, integrity, compassion, intelligence
Your Money or Your Life. Taught me that money is a tool, like a hammer, to be used for a specific job, and not attach emotion to this tool of money.
School Board members ensure that the district provides high-quality education while being accountable to the community they serve by policy making, budgeting, hiring staff and being strong advocates for parents.
Students, teachers, parents, staff, board members, voters and members of our community around Damman School.
As new Board member, I’ll be asking if needs are being met, what percentage of needs are being met and then qualifying measurements for improvements.
I’ll be asking teachers and staff what is needed for them to teach.
Meet and greet at school functions and also available for face to face, individual meetings.
Becoming a registered nurse at age of 40 years , with two kids at home, husband working full time, and still emerging with my sanity!
