Sherri L. Walker is the former chief magistrate judge of the Fannin County Magistrate Court in Georgia. She was appointed by the superior court judges of the Appalachian Judicial Circuit in late June 2014, replacing the late Ronald L. Newton, effective July 17.[1]
Walker was defeated in her bid for an elected four-year term on the court in the nonpartisan runoff election on June 26, 2016.
Biography
Walker worked as a deputy clerk in the Fannin County Magistrate Court from 2005 until she became a magistrate in 2014.[1]

Selection method

Judges of the Georgia Magistrate Courts are either elected or appointed to terms of varying lengths.[2] The elections for this court type are contested and may be partisan or nonpartisan. To serve on this court, a judge must be a county resident for at least one year, be 25 years of age, and have a high school diploma or equivalent.[3]
