Dr. Banerjee is a practicing family medicine physician, electrical engineer, and a devoted father and husband. He has become intimately familiar with district 29 through serving the community as a physician in multiple locations practicing occupational medicine. He has been listening to the stories of his constituents for many years and now he wants to take those stories to Sacramento to make changes for our community.
  • Reduce homelessness through supplying coordinated services to the homeless, and lowering the cost of housing by increasing the supply.
  • Improve healthcare delivery through reforming Medi-Cal's administrative overhead.
  • Build water management infrastructure, and invest in energy infrastructure as these two are intimately tied together.
Healthcare delivery is tragically stunted through administrative overhead, both from the state's inefficient systems, and the massive regulation that results in excessive administrative overhead in private practice. Californians have paid for Medi-Cal, but its citizens are not receiving the benefits because the administrative overhead is consuming too much money to make it profitable for clinics to be able to care for California's most needy population.
My heroes include Gandhi, Martin Luther King, and Jesus. Gandhi taught us the power of non-violent resistance when faced with overwhelming odds. Martin Luther King taught us the power of the voice and the power of ideas, compared to the weakness of violence. Jesus is a misunderstood prophet, as He said himself, in as much as He brings a message of forgiveness which crosses all borders both political and personal.
I remember sadly the space shuttle Challenger disaster happening while I was at school in seventh grade. The lessons learned from that investigation profoundly affected my attitude toward life, both as an engineer and a physician. If you see a problem, you must speak out, and speak out loudly, because a disaster can result if you don't. Healthcare is in crisis in this country and this state, and we need to act now.
I worked in a grocery store bagging groceries over the summer in high school. I was promoted to stocking the dairy the next summer.
