My parents and I immigrated to the US when I was young so they could pursue their Doctorate degrees. I served 10 years in both enlisted and officer ranks in the US Air Force, working in Construction Management and as an Executive Officer. After being Honorably discharged, I continued to serve as a military spouse. Upon reassignment to Washington State, I became tenured faculty at Spokane Community College. As a Union member, I advocated for equitable compensation for adjunct faculty.

My advocacy work has led me to Richmond numerous times over the years. I testified before House and Senate committees and met with legislators on both sides of the aisle on a wide range of issues. I lobbied as a Virginia resident on pay & wage equity, workers’ rights, reproductive care access, transgender rights, gun control, pedestrian & bicycle safety, transit access, clean energy, and the Equal Rights Amendment.

In our community, I served on the boards of Faith Alliance for Climate Solutions and The Reston Chorale. I am also active with the NAACP and the American Association for University Women (AAUW). In the Fairfax County Democratic Committee (FCDC), I served as the Co-Chair of the Veterans and Military Families Caucus and Co-Vice Chair of Diversity and Outreach. Regionally, I was elected as the 1st Vice Chair for the Democratic Asian Americans of Virginia (DAAV) and am the Mid-Atlantic & Southern Regional Director for Aouth Asians for America (SAFA).
  • Safeguarding reproductive freedom.
  • Defending LGBTQ+ rights
  • Increasing resources for mental health care.
Safeguarding reproductive freedom against far-right attacks.

Increasing mental health services and facilities while also working to address mental well-being from the outset.

Maintaining and strengthening our world-class public education system.

Standing up for LGBTQ+ families like mine that are under daily attack — in particular the transgender community whose rights and very lives are under threat. As the mom of a transgender nonbinary child, I know firsthand the real harm of these physical and legislative attacks and I will always stand strong and speak out for my LGBTQ+ family and friends.

Addressing housing affordability so that teachers, retail workers, and firefighters don't have to live two counties, or even a state, away from where they work.

Working to pass common sense gun control measures. As a 10-year Air Force veteran, I know that weapons of war have no place in our communities.

Standing with our Unions and their efforts to ensure home health care workers are paid and have benefits, transit workers have adequate pay and time off, and that all workers have the right to collective bargaining. As a former union member, I know that strong unions and a strong economy go hand-in-hand.

Improving our transportation system to shorten commute times, decrease our carbon footprint, and improve our air quality. In my position as Legislative Director for Multimodal Transportation I have worked with VDOT to solve problems in our community.
