Sidney Schenkier
Sidney I. Schenkier was a federal magistrate judge for the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. He was appointed to this position on March 30, 1998.[1] He retired on April 30, 2020.[2]
Education
Judge Schenkier earned a B.S. in journalism from Northwestern University in 1976 and a J.D. from the Northwestern University School of Law in 1979.[1]
Career
Judge Schenkier began his career in September 1979 as a law clerk for U.S. District Judge Marvin Aspen of the Northern District of Illinois. The next year, he began teaching at the University of Chicago Law School as a Bigelow Teaching Fellow. Schenkier then joined the law firm of Jenner & Block on July 14, 1981. He became a partner of this firm in January 1986 and worked in this position until he became a magistrate judge in 1998.[1]
