Sienna Osta is a first generation Lebanese-American lawyer in West Palm Beach, Florida. Growing up in a diverse community helped spark her lifelong commitment to fairness and equality. She has a strong analytical foundation thanks to her pre-medical education, and a strong work ethic thanks to her self-made father.
  • Repair Florida’s broken unemployment system
  • Protect women’s rights
  • Initiate legislation to find all missing persons, regardless of race, age, and national origin
Promoting fairness and equality; protecting women's rights; preserving our natural environment.
Transparency, honesty, passion for the law, and grit.
The first major historical event that I can remember was 9/11. I was in high school at the time. I am Lebanese-American and have always been proud of my Middle Eastern descent. However, after the terrorist attack of September 11, 2001, high school became a very unpleasant experience. I was regularly insulted with racial slurs about my heritage. This is one of the main reasons why I fight for fairness and equality, as well as a zero tolerance for discrimination.
My first job was at a local Starbucks coffee shop. I worked at Starbucks for several years through college, and it really taught me the value of hard work and teamwork. It also taught me how to make a mean pumpkin spice latte.
The Tibetan Art of Living by Christopher Hansard. This book contains so many valuable lessons, including the following: "Remember, living in a way that is as true to yourself as you can be is not always an easy path."
I do not believe it's necessary for state legislators to have previous experience in government or politics. However, it is imperative that they have experience in litigation and practicing the law. I believe that our lawmakers should be lawyers, or have a strong law background/education, as the job explicitly entails the drafting of new laws and amending existing laws.
Yes. It is important to build and maintain good relationships with other legislators because ultimately, it is in the best interest of the people. We need more legislators that are willing to set aside their personal ego and do what is right for the people they represent. I believe the best way to maintain good relationships with anyone--from opposing counsel to opposing ailes is to treat them with respect and civility and to communicate with transparency, straightforwardness, and grit.
Like any good lawyer, my response here is "it depends". Specifically, it depends on a number of variables, including what exactly is meant by "compromise" in the context of this question. As a litigator, my experience has consistently been that if each party makes small concessions, a resolution can often be reached.
