Biography

Pflueger's professional experience includes working as an engineer. She earned her M.S. in electrical engineering in 1989 and Ph.D. in mechanical engineering in 1994. Pflueger is affiliated with the Laser Institute of America BoD and Fraunhofer Institute of Laser Technology.[1]

What would be your top three priorities, if elected?

- Affordable and accessible healthcare for all Californians - Improved fire resiliency, disaster planning, and consumer protections after disasters - Education and jobs, specifically apprenticeships and vocational training

What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?

Healthcare. As a breast cancer survivor and in helping others through the journey later I have experienced our health care system, and have seen the need to fix it - from premiums and deductible to run-away costs and limited choice of providers

What characteristics or principles are most important for an elected official?

Stand up for your constituents and against corporate interests.

What qualities do you possess that you believe would make you a successful officeholder?

I'm an engineer and a businesswoman. Throughout my professional career I have shown that I can lead people, and that I don't take no for an answer. I will stand up for the people of Senate District 1.

What do you believe are the core responsibilities for someone elected to this office?

Represent the interests of the rural constituency, which has not been served well by our representatives.

What legacy would you like to leave?

I would like to see the district exporting children by providing them with an education and jobs close to their homes. And I would like to be known as somebody who has supported healthcare for everybody.

What is the first historical event that happened in your lifetime that you remember? How old were you at the time?

The moon landing. I was 4. I watched in in a campground on a small b

What was your very first job? How long did you have it?

Tutoring high school students, for 3 years.

What is your favorite holiday? Why?

Thanksgiving. Because it's about company and food, and because it's a holiday for all Americans.
