Simcha Felder (Democratic Party) is a member of the New York State Senate, representing District 17. He assumed office on January 1, 2013. His current term ends on December 31, 2020.
Felder (Democratic Party, Republican Party, Conservative Party) ran for re-election to the New York State Senate to represent District 17. He won in the general election on November 3, 2020.
Felder began caucusing with Republicans when he was first elected in 2012. He and the former members of the Independent Democratic Conference, who caucused with Republicans until April 2018, faced progressive challengers in the September 13 Democratic primaries. Felder defeated Abraham Tischler in the Democratic primary on September 13, 2012 and defeated incumbent David Storobin (R) and Abraham Tischler (School Choice Party) in the general election, which took place on November 6, 2012. (While not declared, Felder gained enough write-in votes to defeat Storobin in the Conservative Party primary.[8][9][10]
