I am Simon Cardell. I was born and raised in this district. I am running for the U.S. House of Representatives TX-4 to restore a virtuous government for the people and by the people.
  • Economic Conditions - The problems with our economy today are caused by a corrupted and irresponsible government. Global corporations and financial institutions are preying on us. Our country is producing less, but making more money. These global entities taking in almost all of the wealth by financial manipulations and exploiting under developed countries resources. Also, the profit made from this is not getting taxed. I will tax this revenue appropriately and invest in our resources and labor so we can all reach American excellence.
  • Cleaning out Corruption and getting Big Money out of Politics - We need to restore a government for the people and by the people. We are completely disconnected from our representatives. Today’s politicians work for themselves and their big money donors. We need campaign finance reform, congressional stock trading laws and term limits. Our government needs to have the will of the people and make decisions for what is good for the public and not corporations.
  • Unity- Today our political environment is toxic. We have never been so polarized. This is because of politicians who choose to use anger and fear to divide us. I believe the human connection is too strong and that the majority of people can come together on moral grounds. I will not be negative or try to use fear in my campaign. I will appeal to our good and positive side.
I am passionate about a prosperous economy where we produce things here, so the whole country can reap the benefits. I am passionate about a true and honest government that acts out of good faith. I am also passionate about civil liberties and justice, well being, security and prosperity.
To properly conduct and dedicate yourself to do what is right for the people you represent.
President George Bush defeating John Kerry in the 2004 Presidential Election.
I was a bag boy at Kroger for the summer.
My courage to do what is right and my understanding of our current conditions.
It’s definitely beneficial to have experience, but I believe new ideas and perspectives in the people’s house is needed.
I am for term limits. We need new people and ideas.
My Dad’s story. He was doing very well for himself with my mom and 3 brothers. My mom died when I was 4 and it flipped our life around, so I got to see two very different prospectives. We bounced around from house to house in North Texas and social security really helped us as a safety net.
Yes. We are in a two party system and the party’s have different power levels in our government, so if you want to get anything done you have to work together. We need consensus.
Give me power to tax large concentrations of wealth approximately and enforce financial responsibility.
Thoughtfully. For truth and not political motives.

Campaign website

Cardell’s campaign website stated the following:

Government Reforms

  • Pass a balanced budget and start paying off our debt.
  • Mandate single-subject spending bills and open up government agencies to the public with full audits.
  • Enact campaign finance reform, limiting contributions to campaigns from individual constituents only.
  • Prohibit former government officials and staff from lobbying.
  • Ban representatives and staff from trading stocks while in office.
  • Combat gerrymandering by creating a non-partisan, independent redistricting commission.
  • Root out corruption by electing good-faith, honest leaders, increasing penalties for corruption, and defending whistleblowers.

Economy

  • Upgrade our nation’s infrastructure to lay the foundation for American economic prosperity.
  • Protect and fix social safety nets like Social Security and Medicare to ensure that every American is cared for.
  • Cut wasteful spending, end corporate handouts and bailouts, close tax loopholes, hold tax cheats accountable, crack down on offshore tax havens, and ensure a fair tax system by aligning capital gains with income tax rates. This will stop the wealthy from exploiting loopholes that allow CEOs to pay lower tax rates than their own employees.
  • Cut taxes for the middle class and small businesses.
  • Support our workforce through fair trade deals, unions, affordable childcare, quality education and training, as well as protected family leave, sick leave, and vacation time.
  • Fight inflation and fix supply chains by investing in and utilizing our country's resources, ensuring we make things here at home.
  • Address the housing crisis by curbing corporate and hedge fund control over residential properties, ensuring homes are for families—not financial portfolios. Additionally, reform immigration and visa policies to prioritize Americans, so they aren’t forced to compete with wealthy foreign investors who undercut labor markets, fast-track home purchases, and bypass the traditional immigration process.

Safety and Security

  • Implement the infrastructure, legislation, technology, and resources necessary to secure our border from illegal immigration, drug smuggling, and trafficking.
  • Invest in public mental health care and addiction recovery services to strengthen our communities, reduce crime, and ensure every individual has access to the support they need for a healthier and safer society.
  • Ensure our first responders, military, and veterans receive the full support they deserve—both during their service and after—so they can continue to keep us safe, knowing that we are committed to taking care of them in return.
  • I firmly support the Second Amendment and recognize its importance in preserving our freedoms. However, we cannot ignore the urgent issue of gun violence, especially in our schools. It's time to take responsible action to protect our children and communities while respecting the rights of law-abiding citizens.

Sensible Government

  • I will safeguard your privacy and your right to make personal medical decisions. I stand firmly against extreme abortion bans, like those in Texas, which put doctors at risk of imprisonment and create dangerous situations in medical care. I support federal protections for abortion in cases of rape, incest, severe fetal abnormalities, and when the life of the mother is at risk.
  • I will fight discrimination and equally defend everyone's life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness. Government intervention is only necessary if these rights are infringed upon.
  • The public’s right to a healthy and clean environment, land, food, water, and other natural resources must be prioritized above private interests.[2]
