Simon Winston was a 2016 Republican candidate who sought election to the U.S. House to represent the 1st Congressional District of Texas.[1] Winston was defeated by incumbent Louie Gohmert in the Republican primary on March 1, 2016.[2]

Winston is a fourth-generation cattle rancher. He manages the Winston 8 Cattle Ranch and Winston Land and Cattle timber producing farms. Winston is a member of Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, Texas Wildlife Association, Pines Gun Club, the Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association, National Cattlemen’s Beef Association, Texas Forestry Association, National Rifle Association, Keltys First Methodist Church and the Lufkin Lions Club and a Diamond Patron of the National Wild Turkey Federation.[3]
