DOVER, Delaware: With the primary in the rear-view, the November ballots are set for the three state executive offices up for election this year in Delaware.
In total, there were two contested primaries, one Democratic and one Republican, across three offices. Only one incumbent ran for re-nomination, leaving two open seats.
Below, Ballotpedia has put together a review of the September 9 primary elections in Delaware, including the unofficial vote totals and a look ahead at the upcoming general election lineup.

Second-term Delaware Attorney General Beau Biden (D) opted not to seek re-election in 2014 and unopposed nominees Matthew Denn (D) and Ted Kittila (R) will face off in the general election to take over the open seat. Until declaring his 2014 candidacy for attorney general, current Delaware Lieutenant Governor Denn, who is term-limited from running again in 2016, was considered a potential candidate to replace Delaware Gov. Jack Markell (D) in 2016 when he terms out of office. Speculation that Denn would pursue the attorney general post began after incumbent Biden announced plans to forgo a possible third term to concentrate on his forthcoming 2016 gubernatorial campaign.[1] Ted Kittila is an attorney as well as owner and managing member of the Wilmington-based Greenhill Law Group, LLC.[2][3][4]

Delaware Treasurer
Outgoing Delaware Treasurer Chip Flowers, a Democrat first elected in 2010, had originally planned to seek a second term in 2014 but bowed out of the race in August following allegations he had harassed his former second in command.[7] Although the charges were dropped with one week to go before primary election day, Flowers had already withdrawn his bid for re-nomination.[8] Flowers' departure cleared the path to the November ballot for Sean Barney, a former aide to current Gov. Jack Markell (D).[9] Republican Ken Simpler, a former hedge fund executive and current CFO for a hotel management company based in Delaware, will take on Barney in the race to succeed Flowers. Simpler overtook Milford-based industrial upholstery businesswoman Sher Valenzuela in the GOP primary for the nomination.
