Single-winner system

A single-winner system is an electoral system in which one candidate can win election to an office. Single-winner contests are used in most legislative elections. Typically, these contests are determined by plurality vote, and the candidate with the highest number of votes wins. Single-winner systems are contrasted with multi-winner systems. In multi-winner systems, a constituency elects multiple individuals to serve in an office.[1][2]
