Sixty-one apply to serve on Iowa's high court
January 13, 2011
Iowa: Following the unprecedented removal of three judges from office in the 2010 General Election, 61 Iowans have applied to succeed them. Applicants come from all areas of the legal profession; judges, lawyers, federal prosecutors and a professor.[1]
The state nominating commission will begin interviews with the candidates on January 24. After speaking with all applicants, the commission will narrow down the list to nine people. Newly elected Terry E. Branstad then has 30 days to select three justices for the Iowa Supreme Court.[1]
