“ | If approved, this Proposition would authorize an additional sales tax of .3% within Skagit County. For example, there would be an additional three cents ($0.03) of sales tax on a ten dollar ($10.00) purchase. The revenues generated from this additional sales tax would be used for the construction, maintenance and operation of a new County Jail facility to house City, Town and County inmates. Additionally, a portion of the revenue may be used to support local police and fire services. The increased sales tax will not apply to retail sales of motor vehicles and certain leases of motor vehicles.[1][2] | ” |
