I am a progressive independent running for the shadow House Representative seat in the District of Columbia. I am a lawyer who believes DC should get statehood. Sometimes it takes a new perspective to see what is unacceptable. I see 700,000 people who are being denied representation in congress but pay the highest per capita federal taxes. I believe DC should be the 51st state and if elected will continue to advocate and fight for DC citizens.
  • I am standing up for DC statehood. We have over 700,000 people living and working in DC without any representation in Congress.
  • DC residents pay a very high federal tax but don't have any control over how those tax dollars are spent.
  • We need all Americans to care about DC Statehood and only then will the Senators from other states start to support DC Statehood
1. D.C. Statehood and how Taxation without Representation is wrong and unjust.

2. Congress can supersede D.C. Laws in policy matters, including marijuana legalization, marriage equality, reproductive rights, and others.

3.D.C status has also resulted in disparate treatment in receiving emergency congressional aid in the federal response to the coronavirus pandemic. The Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act, which included a minimum of $1.25 billion guaranteed to each state, D.C., however, only received $500 million. D.C residents pay state and federal taxes, for all purposes D.C. is expected to run like a state but is denied the status of a state.
