Campaign themes
2014
Henneberry highlighted the following goals on her campaign website:
“ | As a teacher with over a decade of experience and as a parent of three, who attend Alameda schools, I know firsthand the importance of continuing and building on our successes in Alameda. I am running for School Board to ensure that we foster innovation while incorporating a 21st Century learning style as part of our curriculum.
We must prepare our students for the ever changing challenges of tomorrow. I understand the multitude of issues facing students and teachers. We need to set fiscal priorities to build and maintain innovative programs. As the district transitions from No Child Left Behind (NCLB) into Common Core State Standards (CCSS) it is important to have a representative on the board who has current experience implementing Common Core and best practices in the classroom. I want to make certain our district works even harder and smarter to ensure every student is either equipped to enter college or the workforce. Working with school site budgets in collaboration with parents, teachers and administrators has provided me the knowledge to clearly understand how to invest our precious resources. My experiences have taught me the importance of evaluating positions on all sides of an issue and asking questions before making decisions. I have worked on school site councils (SSC) and know the financial challenges our district faces. When the bond passes we will have the responsibility of making sure that bond monies are appropriately disbursed. Everybody needs a safe place to work and go to school. These are decisions that should be made with all stakeholders so that monies are spread equally throughout the district. I am proud to live with my family in Alameda. It is my core conviction that every child not only succeeds but thrives. I want our schools to remain strong and grow even stronger. I would be honored to have your vote Tuesday, November 4, 2014.[11] |
