Two of the seven seats on the DeSoto Independent School District school board were up for general election on May 7, 2016. Place 1 incumbent Carl Sherman Jr. ran unopposed and won re-election after filed challenger Sonia Moore withdrew from the race. Challenger Kathryn Goad defeated incumbent Van Stripling for the Place 2 seat.[1][2]
