Selection of state court judges in South Carolina occurs largely through legislative election.[1] South Carolina is one of only two states in the country where judges are elected by the General Assembly rather than by the governor or voters.[2] The other is Virginia.
No South Carolina Court of Appeals judge needed to stand for election in 2020.
