Special election on February 26 will fill vacancy in Alabama state house

BIRMINGHAM, Alabama: A special election is scheduled for February 26 to fill a vacancy in District 97 of the Alabama House of Representatives.
Yvonne Kennedy (D) died on December 8, 2012. Gov. Robert Bentley (R) scheduled a special election to fill the vacancy, with a primary on February 26, 2013. However, no Republican candidates filed for the seat, which in turn has turned the primary into the general election.[1][2]

In 2010, Kennedy won election without any opposition in the general election.
