I have grown up and lived in Northwest Indiana my entire life. After graduating from Hobart High School in 2008, I added to my family history of serving my country. I joined the Marine Corps serving four years. After ending my contracted service with an Honorable Discharge, I craved to continue to serve a cause greater than myself. So, after being out of the Marines for three days, I began a career as a 911 dispatcher at the Hobart Police Department. After several months, I was hired by the Munster Police Department as a Patrol Officer. Once I officially began my career, I knew that this was the job for me. After working at Munster for four years, I was hired at the Hammond Police Department. With the love of the job came with heartbreak. As my time as a police officer, I have been in neighborhoods, both rich and poor, and have seen how people have struggled and continue too. I have been in situations where I've had to console women of domestic violence. During my time, I have had to walk into homes where there is no furniture, where kids have no food, no electricity, fatherless homes. As a Police Officer, I have seen first-hand what 35 years of Democratic Policy has done to our community. While the rest of the state thrives, our district still remains with a higher unemployment than both the state and national average. Along with the population dwindling in our district and the lack of economic opportunity, I knew that the time is now to do something about it.
