|
A Spokane City Council Tax Approval Amendment proposition was approved on the February 12, 2013 election ballot in Spokane County, which is in Washington.
This proposition amended the Spokane City Charter to add a section requiring that any vote approving a "new councilmanic tax" must pass by a majority vote plus one of the city council. Spokane had seven council members at the time of this measure. An affirmative vote of four members would be a majority. This measure required an affirmative vote from five—one more than the majority—of the seven members to impose new taxes.[1]
