A Spring Lake Village Harbor Transit Levy Renewal proposal was on the November 6, 2012 election ballot in Ottawa County, which is in Michigan, where it was approved.
This proposal authorized the Village of Spring Lake to renew a property tax levy of up to .7 mills ($0.70 per $1,000 of assessed valuation) for 4 years in order to fund the Village's participation in the Harbor Transit Transportation System. Language on the ballot:
| “ | Shall the Village of Spring Lake include within its authorized operating millage, a separate voted levy of up to 0.7000 mills for a period of four (4) years, 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016 inclusive, for the purpose of providing funds to pay the cost of participation of the Village of Spring Lake in the Harbor Transit Transportation System (also known as the Harbor Transit Dial-A-Ride program), excluding expenditures related to the former summer trolley service, and shall the Village of Spring Lake be authorized to levy said millage for such purpose? If approved, the operating millage of the Village of Spring Lake will not change. If the millage is authorized and levied, the amount the Village will collect in the first year is estimated to be $58,400.[1][2] | ” |
