Two seats on the St. Louis Elected Board of Education were up for general election on November 4, 2014.[1]
At-large incumbents Donna Jones and Bill Haas won re-election to the board without opposition. The election still appeared on the ballot as write-in candidates were allowed.[2]

St. Louis Public Schools is located in east-central Missouri in St. Louis County. The county seat is Clayton. This county was home to 1,001,444 residents in 2013, according to the United States Census Bureau in 2014.[3] In the 2012-2013 school year, St. Louis Public Schools was the largest school district in Missouri and served 32,364 students.[4]
Demographics
In 2013, St. Louis County had a higher percentage of residents with a bachelor's degree compared to the state overall. The United States Census Bureau reported that 40.6 percent of residents aged 25 and older in the county had earned a bachelor's degree, compared with 26.2 percent for Missouri. The median household income in St. Louis County was $58,910, higher than the state median of $47,380. The poverty rate in the county was 10.9 percent, compared to 15.5 percent for Missouri as a whole.[3]

Voter and candidate information
As of the 2014 election, the St. Louis Elected Board of Education consisted of seven members elected at-large to four-year terms. There was no primary election, and the general election was held on November 4, 2014. Two seats were up for election in 2014.[6]
Regular candidates had to file with the St. Louis County Board of Elections by August 26, 2014, to run in this election; the write-in candidate deadline was October 24, 2014. Voters had to register to vote by October 8, 2014, to cast ballots in this election.[7]
