A St Joseph City Sales Tax Extension measure was on the August 7, 2012 ballot in the city of St Joseph, which is in Buchanan County.

This measure sought to extend the current city sales tax which is set at a rate of .5 percent for a further six years in order to continue to pay for capital improvement projects as well as bond repayments for previous capital projects in the city.[2]

Text of measure

The question on the ballot:

Shall the City of St. Joseph, Buchanan County, Missouri, extend a sales tax of one-half of one percent for a period of six (6) years from the effective date of extension of such tax for the purpose of funding capital improvements, including the operation and maintenance of capital improvements, which may include the retirement of debt under previously authorized bonded indebtedness?[3]
