I’m a proud, fifth-generation native of Montgomery County, Maryland. My father was a police officer for 30 years, and I attended our public schools before graduating from the University of Maryland. In addition to my master’s degree in journalism from Columbia University, I recently earned, with honors, another graduate degree from UMD’s School of Public Policy. My background includes work as a publicist for NBC-TV; as a TV reporter in Seattle; and holding multiple executive positions for national, state, and local Republican campaigns. I’ve also served as a chief election judge in Montgomery County. I’m a successful Maryland and D.C. Realtor, possessing a deep understanding of pocketbook issues facing consumers seeking affordable housing. Many harmful fluctuations in our markets can be tied directly to ineffective policies and political ineptitude – the latest example being our nation’s soaring inflation and its’ impact on interest rates. Everyone is getting hurt. In addition, under a Democrat super-majority in our legislature, Maryland is experiencing incredibly high crime, seriously declining student achievement, and an economy suffering from growing business losses due to high taxes and excessive regulation. My goal as a legislator is to boost Maryland’s overall success by stemming those recurring losses.
  • Law enforcement is my number one priority. I want to reverse the incredibly damaging effects of "defunding the police" here. Baltimore is now the number two murder capital in the United States, with Montgomery County experiencing soaring homicide rates, as well. The grim statistics are directly attributable to recent and ineffective policies that weakened, demoralized, and dehumanized our law enforcement. We've been losing sworn officers in droves, and recruitment is way down. Prosecutors are behaving more like public defenders by letting repeat offenders back on the street I believe that refunding the police, bolstering the esteem of our law enforcement, and increasing police presence in our communities can be achieved with concurrent eff
  • I’m deeply concerned about the state of affairs in our schools. Presently, only 41% of Maryland’s third graders are proficient in reading and math. This backward slide is only partially attributable to Covid mandates and school closures. Other factors include the loss of highly trained and skilled educators. Like law enforcement, we’re losing qualified teachers in droves. Many who report being fed up with the bureaucracy, teaching to test, and with the meddling of politics in education. What higher purpose do we have than to teach our children and to teach them well? This decline has happened under the super-majority, Democrat-controlled legislature. It’s time to take a fresh look at our education system to find more meaningful ways to supp
  • Maryland’s economy is being dragged down by high taxes and over-regulation. Businesses are leaving the state or bypassing Maryland in favor of Northern Virginia for a more favorable tax and regulatory climate. We have a Democrat super-majority in our legislature who are ultimately responsible for this regression. Large corporations like Clark Construction – a longtime Maryland stalwart – recently took their $4 billion company to Northern Virginia. When Boeing and Raytheon Technologies considered relocating their headquarters to our greater metropolitan area, they ultimately chose NOVA. The same with Amazon when considering a business expansion here. This has to stop. The loss of businesses and jobs means that our ability to pay our pensio
Aside from the aforementioned, I am deeply concerned about child welfare in our state. We have a growing number of children in foster care, many of whom age out of the system without the resources or emotional support that they need. It's a proven fact that those children are far more likely to become unemployed, homeless, drug-addicted and/or pregnant, thus initiating another cycle of neglected and abused children. Presently there are allowable practices out there that strip those children of benefits and rights they are due as foster children. As a Maryland legislator I will make it one of my missions to make sure the most vulnerable people in our society have the protection and the resources they need.
