I’m an auctioneer and farmer, life long resident of Rutherford County. Married, Terri is a stay at home coordinator for our family. Two sons, Jackson is an Oakland High and Vanderbilt graduate. He works for J P Morgan. Chandler is a Central Magnet School and Rhodes graduate. Married to Devin, he works with me in the auction business.

Terri and I both graduated from Oakland and MTSU so you can see that public education and higher education is very important to our family.

I am currently a member of the Public Building Authority which assists the county commission and Mayor with building public buildings and a past County Commissioner for 12 years. I hope to bring my experience in service to the county to the school board to assist in building and budgeting. Being a Realtor, I see firsthand the growth that the county has experienced and hopefully bring some perspective to managing this growth on the school board.
  • Back to basics. I believe that the base of education lies in the ability to read, write and communicate along with mathematics. With a good foundation in these critical areas, I believe that each student can reach their potential as long as it is utilized.
  • Managing growth and building and designing schools that can be built quickly and efficiently. Getting students and teachers is permanent class rooms will facilitate a safe and secure learning environment.
  • Vocational and trade education has been lacking the past 30 years it seems. I believe that to much time and money has been spent on trying to prepare everyone for college. College is great and necessary, however knowing and having a good trade to utilize through out one’s life can be invaluable. With student debt at an all time high, it just makes plane sense to get students being productive and independent financially to live productive lives.
Safety and discipline along with curriculum towards a basic education. Respect for teachers by students and parents. The golden rule works well.
My father, he was kind and understanding. Hard working and a Christian
Open minded and a good listener. I believe we live in a Republic to defend and respect personal rights not demands at the whim of the loudest voices.
My entire career has been about negotiations so I believe that most things can be worked out with patience, respect, empathy and understanding.
Efficiency of tax payers money. Design and implement an efficient curriculum and paying employees equitably.
Not concerned about legacy
Milking cows and hauling hay.
10 years
The Bible, good all around self help book full of history. History is a hobby of mine. We live on a farm where the battle of Milton during the civil war was fought.
Taxpayers and citizens of Rutherford County, primarily the communities of Lascassas, Walter Hill, Mona, Leanna, Murfreesboro, Milton and Lavergne.
I’m not sure there are diverse needs. Everyone needs to be able to read, write, communicate and understand basic math.
I will visit each school in the county with in 90 days to meet each principal and key parents in those schools
First, make sure all waste is exploited. If there is a need for additional funding, look at all opportunities such as sponsorships, redirecting lottery funds, grants from other government agencies.
Everyone has the right to be safe so understanding the role of resource officers, utilizing available technologies and having parental involvement is paramount to protecting students and teachers.
Nothing particular at this point other than getting students and teachers in effective and efficient classrooms
First and foremost. We are stewards of the taxpayer and I believe we should know where every dollar goes.
