Stand Together Foundation is a nonprofit organization that provides grants and other forms of support to other nonprofit groups. The foundation's goal is to "tackle the root causes of our country’s biggest problems, from education to the economy, broken communities, and toxic division, among dozens of other pressing issues," according to the foundation's website as of July 2025.[1]
Background
The Seminar Network was founded in 2003 by Charles Koch and it became known as Stand Together Foundation in 2019.[1] Chairman and CEO Brian Hooks said in 2019 that the organization's goal was "offering people a different way to stay engaged in policy and in politics but to do it in a way that unites people to actually get things done.” [2]
As of July, 2025, Stand Together Foundation's website said it works with over 290 community-based organizations, over 700 business leaders and over 2 million grassroots activists across the country.[1]
Leadership
As of July, 2025, Brian Hooks is the chairman and CEO of Stand Together.[1]
Work and activities
Policy and nonprofit work
Stand Together works on public policy issues with other groups, such as Americans for Prosperity, the LIBRE Initiative and Concerned Veterans for America.[3]
Stand Together's website said it works on seven policy areas: "the economy, education, constitutionally limited government, strong and safe communities, future of work, foreign policy and health care."[4]
As of July 2025, Stand Together Foundation reported supporting more than 350 nonprofit organizations through its Catalyst Program. The program include a 12-month management training program and ongoing coaching, as well as connection to other non-profit leaders and "access to measurement and evaluation tools."[5]
Supported FIRST STEP Act
The foundation (then The Seminar Network) supported the passage of the FIRST STEP Act, which President Donald Trump (R) signed into law in December 2018. The law provides for prison sentence reductions under certain circumstances and programming aimed at reducing recidivism. The group worked with a coalition of other organizations, including the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative.[6]
