Stanley Birch
Stanley F. Birch, Jr. was a federal judge with the United States Court of Appeals for the 11th Circuit. He joined the court in 1990 after being nominated by President George H.W. Bush. Birch retired from the court in August 29, 2010.[1]
Early life and education
A native of Virginia, Birch graduated from the University of Virginia with his bachelor's degree in 1967 and later graduated from the Emory University School of Law with his juris doctorate in 1970 and his Master's of Laws degree in 1976. Birch also served as a U.S. Army Lieutenant from 1970 to 1972.[1]

Federal judicial career
Birch was nominated by President George H.W. Bush on March 22, 1990 to a seat vacated by James Hill. Birch was confirmed by the U.S. Senate on May 11, 1990 on unanimous consent of the Senate and received commission on May 14, 1990. Birch retired from the court in August 29, 2010.[2]
