Stanley, affectionately known as "JP," was born to the proud parents of Haitian immigrants in Manhattan, New York. He attended private and public schools where he graduated from Bayside High School in Queens, New York. The family shortly relocated to Miami, Florida in 1988.

Stanley attended Miami-Dade Community College where he earned an Associates degree in Criminal Justice. Shortly after, he attended Florida State University in Tallahassee, Florida, earning a Bachelor's degree in International Affairs all while pledging and becoming a member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. In addition, he was a walk-on football player for the Seminoles.

Upon returning to Miami, Stanley worked for the Urban League of Greater Miami as a Program Specialist, advocating for civil rights in Urban Advocacy by closing the inequality gaps and parental involvement in academic excellence. Stanley expanded on that training and experience from the Urban League by becoming a high school substitute teacher for two years.

Stanley later found his true calling in law enforcement by becoming a police officer with the City of Miami Police Department, where he retired after serving twenty-five years of honorable service. He worked in various units within the department, worked hard to get promoted and ultimately become an avid advocate in fighting against injustice, corruption, racism and discrimination.

  • My slogan, " A Strong Voice for a New Direction."

I am concerned about the direction Florida is heading. We are living in some turbulent and challenging times. The GOP is scapegoating minorities, women and marginalized communities with harmful policies. The Governor and the GOP-led legislature have pursued restricting women's rights over their bodies, voting rights and censoring Black History in public schools. Also, in District 107, we are dealing with an increase in gun violence, out of control housing/rent prices and lack of infrastructure.

I have been a proven leader and servant in my career and district for thirty years. I am that leader who is persistent and steadfast to navigate these difficult times.
  • I truly care about the issues affecting District 107 because it affects me as well. Together we will identify, prioritize and solve these issues. I will represent your interests and values to the best of my abilities.
  • I will sponsor and fight for laws that improve the quality of life of my constituents.
Here are the public policies I am passionate about and will advocate for in Tallahassee:

1) Improving Public Safety/Reducing Gun Violence
2) Increasing Affordable Housing
3) Reducing Property Insurance
4) Climate Change Mitigation/Environment
5) Improving Public Education
6) Improving and Expanding Healthcare
7) Improving Infrastructure & Transportation

8) Assisting Small Businesses
My parents. My mother and father were loving, hardworking, strict and prideful people.
I believe elected officials should be honest and transparent. Constituents want to know they can trust their elected officials.
I believe the core responsibilities for a State Representative is first to advocate for their constituents' interests and values. In addition, a State Representatives job is:

1) Sponsor and co-sponsor new bills to become law.
2) Review or amend (change) laws.
3) Bringing back dollars in appropriations (funding) to

    their district.
4) Help balance the State Budget.
I tried to help and improve peoples lives.
My very first job was at Interco, an auto parts warehouse in Long Island, New York. I worked there for a little under a year.
I believe that legislators and the governor should have a cordial and respectful relationship. They may not always agree but they should always treat each other with respect. The governor and legislators are elected by the people and it's not about personal egos. The governor and legislators must always remember that. They are there to serve the interest of the citizens of Florida.
Rapid increase in population. The population will continue to grow with about five million new residents. The sudden increase in population puts a strain on public services, infrastructure, and cost in housing.
Yes. If the state legislator has previous experience, it helps that person navigate the job much easier.
Yes. If legislator builds relationships with other legislators helps them pass bills and get more done.
I would like to amend permitless carry of firearms (HB 543).
Here are some Committees that interest me:

1) Appropriations
2)Judiciary
3) Education & Employment
4) Health & Human Services
5) Pandemics & Public Emergencies
6) Infrastructure Strategies

7) Public Integrity & Elections
I believe government should be accountable. The government is there to serve the people. Also, I believe elected officials should be financially transparent.
