DES MOINES, Iowa: Disagreements over the Iowa state budget have now turned into arguments over who is willing to negotiate agreement talks. House speaker Kraig Paulsen (R) and Gov. Terry Branstad (R) have both accused Democrats of walking away from budget talks, however, Democrats argue that they have been the most willing to negotiate talks. Senate Majority leader Michael Gronstal (D) claims that Democrats initiated the meetings last Thursday.[1]

Although concessions and agreements have been reached on most issues, the issue of school funding still stands unmovable. The inability to agree has led the legislative session to extend exactly a month past the scheduled end date of April 30.[1]
