49 state legislatures along with the District of Columbia have a state legislative research service bureau. Some states have only one agency, while other states have separate agencies strictly for fiscal analysis and another for general research.

There is no central service bureau serving the Massachusetts General Court. Legislative Services are provided by the staff representing the leaders of each house of the General Court.[1]
