Before the 2022 state legislative elections, Democrats controlled 36 state legislative chambers, while Republicans controlled 62. In the Alaska House, there was a power-sharing agreement between the parties as part of a coalition. Following the elections, and going into 2023, Democrats controlled 40 chambers and Republicans controlled 57. In the Alaska House and Senate, there was a power-sharing agreement between the parties as part of a coalition.
