Stephanie Grisham is a former chief of staff for first lady Melania Trump. She is also a former press secretary in the presidential administration of Donald Trump (R).[1]
Trump named Grisham as the replacement for former press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders on June 13, 2019. Melania Trump said in a tweet: "I am pleased to announce @StephGrisham45 will be the next @PressSec & Comms Director! She has been with us since 2015 - @potus & I can think of no better person to serve the Administration & our country. Excited to have Stephanie working for both sides of the @WhiteHouse."[2][3][4] On April 7, 2020, it was announced that Grisham would be stepping down as press secretary to become the first lady's chief of staff. Grisham had previously served as a spokeswoman for Melania Trump while holding the press secretary position.[1]
Grisham was a member of Donald Trump's presidential transition team, a group of advisors tasked with recommending presidential appointments for the incoming administration.[5]
On January 6, 2021, Grisham announced her resignation as first lady Melania Trump's chief of staff.[6]
Career
Grisham owned the communications firm Sound Bite Public Relations, LLC, in Gilbert, Arizona. Her professional experience includes serving as the spokeswoman for AAA Arizona, Arizona Attorney General Tom Horne, the Arizona House of Representatives Republican caucus, and then Arizona House Speaker David Gowan.[7][8][9] Grisham worked on Mitt Romney's 2012 presidential campaign.[10]
In 2015, Grisham joined Donald Trump's presidential campaign as a press aide. After he assumed office, she became deputy press secretary for Sean Spicer in 2017. Later that year, she moved to serving as the communications director for Melania Trump. She was then promoted to deputy chief of staff for communications for Melania Trump.[11]
Donald Trump presidential transition team, 2016-2017
Grisham was a member of Donald Trump's presidential transition team in his first presidential term. The transition team was a group of around 100 aides, policy experts, government affairs officials, and former government officials who were tasked with vetting, interviewing, and recommending individuals for top cabinet and staff roles in Trump's administration. She was part of the leadership staff.
