My name is Stephanie Simacek. I am a DVUSD parent. I am also a former DVUSD teacher, current volunteer and current substitute running for the DVUSD Governing Board..

I am driven by a passion for public education, I believe it is what holds our communities together through one common goal, our children, our future. With that said, I believe every child deserves the right to equal access to public education no matter their race, ethnic background, religion, gender, socioeconomic status, or citizenship.

In order for our students to be prepared for the future we need to take action. This begins at a local community level. We must elect leaders that represent the best interests of ALL of our DVUSD community. I was recently named a public school proud candidate by SOS Arizona. Our teachers, staff and students are what makes this district one of the best in Arizona. However, we are losing teachers, students and staff due to pay shortages, overcrowding of classrooms, lack of resources for ALL learner types and an overall respect for the teaching profession in general. We have a responsibility as a community to come together, so everyone in DVUSD is thriving in their learning environments.
  • I am a DVUSD parent, former teacher, and current substitute.
  • There are many topics that need to be addressed for our district including teacher pay, smaller class sizes, and the importance of qualified teacher retention, please know these are at the top of my list because they have a trickle down benefit for both students and staff.
  • In regards to special education, we have a shortage of teachers and staff in these areas but improvements that include smaller class sizes and liveable wages, will help these positions to get filled. We need to invest in more paras, therapists, (OT, PT, Speech) so our SPED teachers have more support.

Scorecards

See also: State legislative scorecards and State legislative scorecards in Arizona

A scorecard evaluates a legislator’s voting record. Its purpose is to inform voters about the legislator’s political positions. Because scorecards have varying purposes and methodologies, each report should be considered on its own merits. For example, an advocacy group’s scorecard may assess a legislator’s voting record on one issue while a state newspaper’s scorecard may evaluate the voting record in its entirety.

Ballotpedia is in the process of developing an encyclopedic list of published scorecards. Some states have a limited number of available scorecards or scorecards produced only by select groups. It is Ballotpedia’s goal to incorporate all available scorecards regardless of ideology or number.
