Stephen Benjamin was the Mayor of Columbia in South Carolina. Benjamin assumed office on June 7, 2010. Benjamin left office on January 4, 2022.

On February 27, 2023, the White House announced Benjamin would serve as a senior presidential advisor and as director of the Office of Public Engagement in the Biden administration.[1]
