Stephen M. Brown was a judge on the Washington Court of Appeals, Division III. He was elected to this position in November of 1996 and took office in January of 1997. He was later re-elected in 2002, 2008, and 2014.[1][2][3] [4] He retired in January 2016.[5][6]

Career

Brown began practicing law in Yakima County, Wash., in 1973. He was appointed to the Selah Municipal Court in 1982 and became a commissioner for the Yakima County Superior Court a year later. In 1988, he became a superior court judge. He then joined the court of appeals in 1997.[6]
