Stephen M. Doyle is a federal magistrate judge for the United States District Court for the Middle District of Alabama. Doyle joined the court on January 7, 2019.[1]
Education
Doyle obtained a B.A., magna cum laude, from Loyola College in 1985, where he was a distinguished military graduate. He obtained a J.D. from Duke University Law School in 1988 and an M.S.S. from the United States Air War College in 2013.[1]
Military service
As of 2020, Doyle was a Colonel in the U.S. Army National Guard. Before that, he was in the JAG Corps and was in the ROTC Infantry and a platoon leader.[1]
Professional career
Before becoming a federal magistrate judge with the United States District Court for the Middle District of Alabama in 2019, Doyle worked in the U.S. Department of Justice. From 1990 to 1998, he worked in the Torts Branch of the Civil Division. He then worked in the Criminal Division. In 2004, he transferred to the United States Attorney's Office for the Middle District of Alabama.[1]
