Retired Deputy Sheriff of 32 years. Host of the national public access educational family show, "The Children's Corner."
As a retired Deputy Sheriff of 32 years, I have been able to relax and enjoy the beauty and solace of Maine. However, bad legislation coming out of Augusta is compromising our great state. I'm talking about legislation like the laws from 2019 that expanded solar energy within our state. Now, 80% of our electricity has to come from solar and windmill energy by 2030 and 100% by 2050. Toxic and caustic solar farms are flooding the State, cutting down our trees, disrupting our animals habitat, causing our electric bills to soar and reducing our tourism, our number 1 source of our states revenue. LD 1578 gives away our 4 electoral college votes to the presidential candidate who receives the national popular vote in future elections.
There is no one individual I look up to or follow.
Honesty, transparency and the protection of constitutional rights.
I have the sense to know right from wrong. I was a good law enforcement officer and you have to know right from wrong to be one.
To find solutions to problems that are relative to your district.
My music (I write and produce music) and my love for history.
Worked in a major grocery store chain.
Les Misérables. Great story.
I'm not really sure. Probably one of mine!
I went through a divorce and had two minor daughters at the time. That was the worse struggle I ever had, not being there to watch my daughters grow up.
Reducing the expansion of solar farms, encouraging alternative energy sources, helping Mainers survive the effects of inflation and supporting the Lobsterman.
Yes. In order to get things done, you need to cross the aisle and compromise with Legislatures that have different mindsets.
Lately, I've been hearing a lot of stories of tourists no longer coming to Maine on vacation because of the ugly solar farms that have replaced our beautiful landscape. Also, doctors offices are now providing food banks for patients that can't afford to buy enough groceries due to inflated prices.
The repeal of LD 1578. This law gives away our 4 electoral college votes to the Presidential candidate who wins the national popular vote. It takes away our representation and the ability for citizens of Maine to determine which candidate they want our 4 electoral college votes to go to. There are approximately 5 states out of 50 that have the majority of the United States population and would always determine the popular vote. The States elect the president so all will have representation in the Presidential election process.
The process is still ongoing at this time. Too early to know.
Environment and natural resources. Criminal justice and public safety. Energy, utilities and Technology. Education and cultural affairs.
Financial transparency is paramount and spending within your budget, without going into debt is front and foremost. Representatives should be transparent to their constituents as to the legislation they are voting on and how they voted on said legislation.
